The products of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Artists’ Greenhouse for Excellence
As part of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mendel Artists’ Greenhouse for Excellence and to end a year of activity in the Musrara neighborhood, the six participating artists of the Greenhouse present the results of their research in a new exhibition at the Musrara art gallery of the Naggar school (Curator: Ayelet Hashahar Cohen, Assistant to Curator: Tali Romem).
Participating artists – Nitzan Yulzari, Tamar Shalit-Avni & Yael Sonnino-Levy, Ora Lev, Tom Porat and Bar Feber – explored geographical and community areas that have not yet received artistic attention: the water cistern on Shivtei Israel Street, the corner of Heleni Hamalka, the Salesian Sisters Monastery on Ha’Ayin Chet Street, ancient trees throughout Musrara, and the office of one of the members of the Black Panthers, located inside the community center of the neighborhood.
The themes and places scattered throughout the neighborhood received a diverse treatment from a mediumistic point of view, which includes sound works, performance, photography, print, video art and mapping projections.
