A special project, the fruit of a collaboration between students from the Photography Department and tenants of the assisted living facility Nofei Motza (Motza Landscapes). In this collaboration, personal and social meetings have taken place, as well as photography encounters between third year photography students at Musrara and the tenants. As part of this process, students discovered the personal biography, objects and life stories of the tenants in the public and private sphere.
The results of this special project were presented in a mutual photography exhibition at Nofei Motza: an artistic photography exhibition centering on portraits of the tenants in the assisted living environment and its surrounding nature, accompanied by short texts.
The project was accompanied by Ayelet HaShachar Cohen, artist, curator and former head of the Photography Department at Musrara; and Yuval Chen, artist and commercial portrait photographer.
Ayalet HaShachar Cohen has stated: “As head of the Photography Department at Musrara, I am an advocate of photography projects combining the personal artistic language of each and every student, while employing professional tools and connecting with the community. I find meaning and hope in the social encounter of young creatives and senior citizens”.
According to Gabi Dror, CEO of Nofei Motza, “the connection between photography, art and personal relations is blessed. I am certain that the outcome of the photographs will touch not only the tenants but also those visiting the exhibition”.
Graduates of the Photography Department participate in a group exhibition at Tel Hai Museum, where graduates of the Israeli higher education photography schools exhibit their works.
