Advanced course situating typography at the forefront and enabling a profound examination of creativity in relation to a firm functional framework. We will delve into the practice and hold a critical discussion on historical conventions, thus setting the ground for building a complex, multivocal system and a unique narrative space. Working with text-filled formats and the transmission of detailed information will require the operation of systems for navigating the space (textual space and temporal space of reading). Students will need to be bold and original on the one hand, and traditionally precise and even meticulous on the other. The course will focus on the design of books and catalogues.
